Wall Sconces: Little lights, Big impact!

I was placing an order for some really beautiful sconces this morning and it got me thinking about all the places in my house a sconce like that could go! Sconces are usually pretty small lighting fixtures but they can make a really big impact when used correctly. Wall sconces can be used in many rooms of the house. They are often used in pairs to frame a doorway, a bed or a fireplace.

They are also great on either side of vanity mirrors as they provide pleasing light for daily grooming tasks.
Along hallways and staircases wall sconces are great for providing light for safety as well as atmosphere.

They can be used to provide soft background illumination as well as directional task lighting.

Shop our large collection of sconces on our website at:
or come into the store and speak with one of our sales consultants about your lighting needs. Our knowledgeable staff will help pick out the right size and style sconce for your space!

Turquoise: 2010's color of the year

We received an email last month from one of our vendors regarding the hot color of 2010! Of course it happens to be one of my favorite colors(in fact it's the color of the diamond on my engagement ring, the color of the shirt i'm wearing, and the color of my earrings!! :) Soooooo......I felt it necessary to share it with all of you! Here is what our vendor Global Views has to say about 2010's color of the year.............
 Turquoise

"Rich and vibrant turquoise takes top honors as 2010 color of the year from Pantone, the recognized expert on color. All shades of blue have long been amongst America's favorite hues, whether in fashion, home, or crayons. Color it blue.

Today's turquoise goes sophisticated when paired with grey, particularly in contemporary interiors and becomes a bit more lively when teamed with chartreuse or orange (loved by most of us in small doses). The color holds up well with golds, browns and other shades of blue.

The feeling of turquoise is calming and serene – think tropical oceans – and some cultures believe the color to be a protective talisman. Taking its shade from the colors of the sea and the sky, turquoise evokes a momentary escape to a tropical island.

This hue is perfect throughout the house to brighten existing décor. It complements reds and pinks, pairs with deeper blues to become nautical and livens up other greens. Pair turquoise with yellow-greens for the hottest look of the season"-----Global Views

Vendor Spotlight: Kalco Lighting

Kalco Lighting offers a hand-forged product varying from contemporary to traditional to everything in between! Artisans in their Las Vegas, Nevada factory hand paint each fixture using various layering techniques. These unique finishes have become Kalco's hallmark! Each piece is handcrafted making it truly a work of art.

One of the really great things about Kalco is their use of natural materials in their shades. They use materials such as buddha leaf, iridescent shell, penshell, and calcite. Like many of our other vendors who offer a handcrafted product, Kalco offer its customers the ability to order custom fixtures.
This Tribecca fixture is a beautiful example of the incredible ironwork done by this company. You can see their use of penshell in the glass!

This piece is an example of what the buddha leaf glass looks like!

This piece is made using the calcite material. Until I saw it in person a few years ago I never knew how cool this really was! This calcite is actually a mineral mined in Utah. When made into this shade it has somewhat of a candle like appearance. When the fixture is lit it gives off an incredibly warm glow!

The Windsor collection is fairly new to to Kalco Lighting. The stained Mica shades are amazing and really make the fixtures! We have a few pieces from this collection in stock. Come see for yourself what i'm talking about!

This cirrus collection has always been incredibly popular! There are 3 colors of glass to choose from, clear, bronze and smoke. The bubble glass is very unique and is sure to get some attention!

If you are looking for a lighting fixture with amazing natural beauty come in today and ask about Kalco Lighting! We just put up a sample chandelier this week to show off all of Kalcos gorgeous glass options.  You won't be disappointed!
